| everyone having happy holidays? still not sure whether Takipsilim is a better or worse idea than that local version of Gossip Girl that deej has mentioned before. i don't look at Rayver and think sparkly marble vampire OMG, although Bella is probably within Shaina's range, such as it is. i'm afraid to look at the fandom_wank report, and ABS has apparently deleted its own news report about acquiring the rights, which seems a bit wanky, although maybe it's just that they realized they totally jumped the gun on that one. while we're on the subject, deej, my mind still refuses to believe that they're even considering a local version of Gossip Girl and i fail at understanding why Luis Manzano would be such a horrible Chuck Bass (except for the fact that he may be too musclebound) because i really don't think Dingdong Dantes would be any better and it's not like ABS could get Dingdong anyway. in any case, people, i was quite entertained by the summary of Twilight in local stoner boy Tagalog. Poging Bangkay is my new favorite nickname for Edward. where'd your sister find it, deej? i mean, do you know who wrote it originally? also, Taylor Lautner (Jacob) was Sharkboy. i don't know why this amuses me. - Mood:weird

| so... dudski. apparently, several days ago you were all "I greatly enjoy the implication that for decades on end, all of the Cullens spent their nights having crazy sex while Edward sat around and studied and kept on being a virgin who never whacked off." i'm sort of envious that i was not present when you were all greatly enjoying that particular implication, which set off a semi-rp in which oxymoronassoc & saint_renegade turned Edward into a 40 year old mother on a bad day. i had to find out about it from someone else on my f-list ( hermione_like) who found out about it via someone else on my f-list ( chickadilly) clearly i should pay more attention to the quality Twilight LULZ. this almost makes me want to read the other two books that i already have (thanks to alcarcalime), Eclipse...and the other one i forgot the title of, but it must be a time of day, right? [e.t.a LOL it's New Moon] just so i can laugh along when peeps are brilliant like that. if i can tear myself away long enough to read something that isn't illustrated with cute Japanese people, or something that isn't a Kinsey Millhone novel. we'll see. btw Dinny, don't think i haven't noticed that you seem to be continuously on gchat. what is up with that? ;) in other news, i may finally be forced to buy a new cellphone, like my (biological) sister's been bugging me to. but i haven't found one i really like yet. woe. | last week i can has had a dream in which i met the Harry to my Wheezy. it was strange. we had the meetup in what looked like a sunny open field, and she & i had hug tiem. incidentally she brought a friend, but i didn't catch the other girl's name. i'm not even sure if we were introduced. like i said, it was strange. i should probably go back to sleep because i have to be at the bookstore at 7 a.m. to finally get the book of doom in my hot little hands. Lil Mama is on this "Umbrella/Cinderella" remix i d/l'ed from last.fm but i cut her out of the track title tag because her part sounds badly c&p'ed onto the track. otherwise, i like the song. even with the corny lyrics. i think maybe i'd like the song better if i didn't understand English. - Mood:weird

| happy birthday, Mikey, wherever you are and whatever you happen to be doing these days. i miss you, dude. Paula, i'm still trying to figure out what i'm supposed to do with that link you sent. @_@ it's cellphone-related, right? how inconvenient of Babelfish not to translate Finnish. i'm not opposed to a redesign of the lj userinfo pages per se. i am, however, opposed to a fugly redesign, which is why i'm totally in favor of the superior layout proposed by grrliz and totally thankful to green_queen for linking to it and to Top 10 Reasons Not to Hate Chad Michael Murray, which had me grinning uncontrollably.re charlottelennox: it has always bothered me how some people in HP fandom have been dismissive of GT in a wholesale sort of way since around the time the site closed down. it's good to finally see someone at least try to set the record straight. - Mood:awake

- it's rather cool how Jarvis Cocker, 2 Radioheads & co. manage to make "This Is The Night" sound like Franz Ferdinand even though the Franz guys had to back out of appearing in the GoF movie. speaking of which, i tagged the song's artist as The Weird Sisters for last.fm/AudioScrobbler purposes (even though the Radiohead guys did say they apparently won't be using the name in the movie) because i wasn't about to type in Jarvis and everyone else's name there, and just to spite the _Wyrd_ Sisters and their nuisance lawsuit. i urge you to do the same if you're a _Weird_ Sisters fan like i am.

| i shouldn't have waited so long to watch my October Sky...i kept putting it off, mainly because coal mining depresses me. this was wrong of me, there was nothing to fear from the coal mining. so anyway, while the tv at my house was tuned in to the replay of The Amazing Race finale (last Wednesday night, i think) i decided to watch the movie on my PC because reality tv and i don't really get along. near the beginning of the movie, while i resigned myself to the inevitable coal mining that i must endure to watch Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Cooper (my 2 main reasons for buying the video in the first place) i was soothed by the sound of Buddy Holly singing "That'll Be the Day" — it was like Buddy telling me i'd get through the coal mining with my good humor intact. the musical score had me thinking perhaps Mark Isham was doing variations on "Ashokan Farewell"...is it just me who thinks Appalachia looks pretty but it has this bone-deep melancholy to it? as though it was melancholy from day one? and i quite bought into the melancholy because i was a sobbing mess by the end. Sunday i wanted to watch Kung Fu Hustle at the nearest cinema but didn't go through with it because i was the tired from the schlepping of the groceries. instead i stayed home and watched my Tremors. heee. because Kevin Bacon in that movie is named Valentine and looks completely hot. so it seemed apropos. didn't get to finish it, though. power outage rudely interrupted my ogling of The Bacon. although i'm just not in Shibby's league, i've been in a bookworm mood lately. i've started on an Improving Book (because i don't read enough of those) and am actually finding it interesting — Wedgwood: The First Tycoon. truth be told though, i ended up borrowing it only because the Jon Stewart book i wanted wasn't available yet. Interest of Yesterday: katherine sian moennigsomeone else who's also completely hot. ![[katherine sian moennig]](http://us.ent4.yimg.com/tv.yahoo.com/images/he/photo/tv_pix/showtime/the_l_word/katherine_moennig/ep_jamesdittiger.jpg) Interest of the (Valentine's) Day: kittencats. because, as a very smart cookie once said, kittens are better than life. i miss you, Luce.- Mood:tired

| interest #47 - gothic novelsrecently i finished Northanger Abbey, although it's more a sendup of gothic novels. in any case, i want a Henry Tilney.two of my favorite Gothic novels were written by women who are more known for their children's books: The Bellini Look by Carol [Ryrie] Brink (author of Caddie Woodlawn) and The Silence of Herondale by Joan Aiken (see interest #58 below) my favorite thing about The Bellini Look is a charming redheaded architect named Gil Corey. it would seem i read Gothic novels for the men in them. >_< interest #48 - guy pearcenow here's a man who's perfect for a movie based on a Gothic novel. he also made me want to see a cannibalism movie! to be fair, though, i imagine Ravenous is more than that. my favorite Guy Pearce movie is LA Confidential but i also liked him in The Count of Monte Cristo, villainy notwithstanding. [e.t.a] thank you to Dinny for the informative link — Hermione would be proud! :) interest #52 - ice skatingi do not actually know how to ice skate (and because the only ice skating rink around here closed down quite awhile back, i probably never will learn) but i do dearly love watching the pros do it. i adore Katia/Sergei *sob* and Torvill/Dean. clearly, i have not watched the ice skating in a long time. *sigh* interest #53 - jamie bellthis is all because of Billy Elliot but i do hope i get to see Nicholas Nickleby in the near future, since mah girl Clara assures me there is Jamie & Charlie (Hunnam, interest #18) cuteness to make me grin from ear to ear. for this post i'm using the Jamie icon Jaime made for me. <3 interest #54 - jamie yeatesthis other Jamie played Marcus Flint in the first two HP movies. no, his teeth aren't really like that. interest #55 - jane bonanderromance novelist. writes good smut.![[jason isaacs]](http://pics.greatestjournal.com/userpic/314919/32640) interest #56 - jason isaacsactor. hotness. aren't those eyes absolutely spectacular? the body's definitely not bad either. and that voice! <333 ![[jimmy fallon]](http://pics.greatestjournal.com/userpic/5024997/32640) interest #57 - jimmy fallonhe's so tremendously dorky i can't help liking him. plus, he reminds me of my dearest Kristen *sigh* interest #58 - joan aikenauthor of Midnight Is a Place, which to me is rather like a Victorian gothic novel, but for children. she also wrote some Austenite novels...although after reading the summaries on Amazon i really do not feel inclined to read them now, even the Emma Watson one i was interested in. i think i'd better just stick to her Gothic novels and children's books. - Mood:exhausted

| if only i'd known sooner that there was a separate Launch site for UK & Ireland i'd've gone there straightaway instead of settling for the regular version all this time! i found the video for "Dragostea Din Tei" there and was absolutely charmed by the O-zone guys horsing around. they're quite dorky but this in large part is what makes them so charming to me. also, the UK Launch radio stations are fewer but they are way coooooooooler. at the moment i am a happy audiophile. oh, and i am happy also because i am now officially jangalicious, thanks to dindongbell! p.s. solveigynt, i've just approved you too! now we can — i dunno — janga together, my HarryBelle! [e.t.a] the cattiness about JKR by other women writers has been bothering me a bit for some time now. first Madeleine L'Engle, then Ursula Le Guin, now Colleen McCullough. i'd've thought they'd be more diplomatic, more gracious. at the very least they haven't turned into Anne Rice, and i felt less bad about trimming L'Engle & Le Guin off my overcrowded interests list. anyway i don't read McCullough so that's alright. well, step up, who's next — Maeve Binchy? i liked Copper Beech. or maybe it was the one about that bus.
